Summary
The Handbook for Patient Participation in Health-Coverage Decisions is an educational tool for patients wishing to learn about how the Chilean health-care system works and how they can become active agents in health-coverage decision making in Chile.
The handbook is divided up into three sections: general concepts, the patient participation in health-coverage decision making in Chile, and recommendations. The three sections contain a total of nine chapters, each of which closes with a summary of key messages and a list of unmet challenges facing the country.
This document was prepared as part of a Fonis Project in the context of social demands for greater patient participation in the decision-making processes determining which medicines or other health technologies should receive financing.
