Stem Cell Regenerative Spray
Summary
Spray-on stem cells constitute a novel alternative for treating persistent skin wounds (such as diabetic foot), providing a wider range of efficient and safe treatments for people suffering from these types of complications.
A team of UC research pharmacists took stem cell-rich fat extracted from liposuctions to the laboratory, combined it with excipients and other substances to keep the stem cells alive, and then applied the mixture with a fine cloud atomizer.
This development can be used to treat complex, chronic or large wounds by aiding skin regeneration in difficult to treat wounds such as the diabetic foot, known for being difficult to heal, or prostrate patients who suffer from painful bed sores where the tissue breaks down.
In addition to healing wounds, spray-on stem cells can be used to fade scars or even make them unnoticeable.
Advantages/Potential Benefits
- Because of its spray format, it would require less handling and would be easier to apply.
- It could be applied to a broad spectrum of wounds such as chronic wounds, vascular pressure ulcers, large melanoma or skin cancer scars, burns and even crystal skin or butterfly skin children.
Development Status
- Human Testing
Opportunities
- Looking for investors interested in supporting test development, formulation and certification processes.
