Fruit Consortium

The Consorcio Tecnológico de la Fruta was established in 2006 with a view to developing national genetics aimed at boosting the long-term competitiveness of the Chilean fruit industry. The initiative receives CORFO funding.

The Consortium uses conventional genetic improvement technology to conduct guided genetic crossings by selecting offspring and choosing those that provide the most sought-after attributes in Chile. Traditional genetic improvement practices successfully produced the first three Chilean raspberry varieties.
